The Gift Of Imperfection

As creatives, we often have a wonderful idea for a project. Then we sit around, wondering when the universe will ever gift us with a perfect life, one where it would be easy to complete the project. One where we magically just have everything we want because we “deserve it.”

Because you are creative, your life was given to you imperfect. The expectation is that you are going to create something from it.

Imperfection of life can be seen as a gift that makes life meaningful. At the moment, you’re assigning a negative meaning — that the imperfection means you have to wait for something.

But that’s not true. That’s a refusal of the call to adventure. Imperfection in yourself and the world means there is glorious work to do.

Patience Does Not Mean Idleness

When you hear the word “patience”, you normally picture a person waiting for something. Like sitting still, dead inside, waiting in a grungy doctor’s office or something for external salvation to come to you.
