Idealists Must Learn Realism

How creative people must integrate their shadow to actually become effective

Creative People Are Driven By Ideals

There are two types of people, and they’re total opposites. On the one hand, we have the open-minded, creative dreamers. The world of ideas and possibilities comes natural to them. Doing the repetitive boring work to make those dreams a reality does not. They’re like a soul without a body.

On the other hand, we have the productivity of the realist. This person is not afraid to get dirty and suffer the boring repetitive tasks that will achieve their goal. A realist without inspired creative direction is like a body without a soul — they will get a lot done, but in service of what ideal? Survival?

Creative people aren’t driven by survival. We’d rather be poor and hungry and able to continue making art. That’s how in love with the world of ideas they are. Creativity is their source of life.

But that impulse to creativity paralyzes most creative people. The realist knows what to do with themselves: go to work, save, keep your head down, do as your told. The creative is bursting at the seams with unique desires and infinite potential.
