The Formula For Enlightenment

According to one of the verses from the Upanishads

The Shvetashvatara Upanishad sings praise to the “Lord of Love” within our hearts. Another name for it is God, in modern Christian language. In the language of psychology, you might call it your “highest value.”

No matter what your individual life circumstances may be, it all boils down to the quest to replace suffering with love, life, and joy. To become enlightened is to achieve that goal, to become unified with those forces.

In a single verse, here’s how to do that:

“Kindle the fire of kundalini deep
In meditation. Bring your mind and breath
Under control. Drink deep of divine love,
And you will attain the unitive state.”
— Shvetashvatara Upanishad, Section II, Verse 6

Kundalini: Divine Feminine Energy

In India, kundalini refers to the divine feminine energy believed to be stored at the base of the spine. Meditation and yoga are ways to activate this energy, and bring it up the spine and through the chakras.

When kundalini reaches the final chakra at the top of the head — the crown of knowing —
