Prayer Is Not About Begging God For Stuff
It’s about discovering that what you desire is already within you
The Normal Understanding of Prayer
The image of prayer sold to us in the mainstream — particularly Christianity — is that of clasping hands, closing your eyes, and then begging your all powerful God to give you more cool physical stuff.
Of course those prayers appear to go unanswered. You’re only coming to God to bother him for something.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
— Matthew 7:21
Prayer is not about asking for stuff — it’s about becoming one with the will of God.
Bear with me. We’re about to dive very, very deep.
What Is God, And What Does He Want?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1
“The Word” is the immaterial force of consciousness. The eternal feeling of “I AM” within. It is the source of language and art. It is the source of desire and life. It is the creator and enjoyer of all egos. It is the source of all religion and morality on Earth.
