Instead of Thinking, Focus

The right thoughts come on their own when you have a clear intention

Thoughts Are Only Shadows Of Life

Thinking means mental activity. It is the mind generating its own images and feelings and words to experience. Don’t get me wrong — as a nerd, as a writer, I love thinking.

But the world consists of more than the mental plane. Below, there is the physical world, this Earth. To achieve material things, we have to do material things.

Thought can help us craft a plan, but then the actions are physical. Our attention and energy must be withdrawn from thoughts, and given to the body. The plan remains a thought, and that thought guides the actions, but any other thought becomes a distraction to the plan and actions.

Within, there is the spiritual world, which is stillness and being. There is nothing to achieve in spirit. We achieve in the Earthly and mental planes a realization of spirit — we become able to see it — when we withdraw our attention from physical and mental activity, and focus within.

In either case, worldly gain or spiritual connection, thoughts play only a limited role. Beyond their intended use, thoughts are a distraction.
