Concepts: Building Blocks Of The Mind

When the world taught you language, you received a bank of concepts: the words you use. By training you to think and believe according to the rules of language, the world taught you to see and behave like them.

And that’s fine, for smaller concepts. Chairs are for sitting, for example. That’s a safe one. But the necessity of guilt, the never ending lust for material things, and faith in violence are the concepts that drive the world.

Even your name: that concept implies that you are one body separate from the others. And when you think “Who am I?” it’s likely that you immediately reference the past, memories, which are also concepts shaped by the way of the world.

But you, dear creative, have discovered through suffering that you are not like the world. You would prefer concepts that lead to creativity, joy, and harmony with others.

That requires becoming conscious of the concepts that you allow within your mind — throw out the ones that cause suffering, and create ones that actually serve.
