The Mountaintop
A Poem
Far above the dark and heavy clouds
Of hungry thoughts that batter Earth’s surface
There is a mountaintop of pure calm, and utter stillness
Of coolness of the air and freshness of the spirit
Here I breathe and drink in vision
Storms below, above are pale and gentle hills
Softened unto dancing by the will of the Sun
Thunderous crashing below, above is silent light
Softened into seeing by a loving, silent mind
Wine of life as clear as water
Far beyond even dreams and even stars
Hungry thoughts die in grateful laughter
On the mountaintop of pure calm, and utter stillness
Here I breathe and drink in vision
Of the delight which shines from within
