Your Ego Can Never Die
You’ve heard the advice to “kill your ego” and enter the state of blissful consciousness known as enlightenment. Perhaps you’ve even made some progress, and feel like life is more free-flowing and joyous already.
Let’s say you’ve practiced meditating on “I AM” to quiet your thoughts. Even this new state of quietness and joy and firmness of identity is still only a state of mind that you are experiencing.
That means: you have not killed the ego — you have only changed its mode of expression.
Never Stop Seeking, Never Stop Growing
“Kill your ego” is a sort of basic-level understanding of how to grow through spiritual practice. From the perspective of someone who’s been stuck for decades in the same patterns, this advice is best.
For the beginner, the focus is that the old, outdated self needs to go.
