Maybe Later

A poem about day-jobs

Ah, a moment
The typewriter nearly chirps
In agreement
But the feeling fails
When someone hands me a stack
Of papers to sort and copy
“Maybe later”
I repeat to myself
To stave off the grief
But another interruption
Somehow finds me
“Help me with this if you can, please”
Jesus!
Will I never be truly free
To focus on writing my poetry?
