“I AM” Meditation

The easiest way to discover who you really are

I recently posted this poem which repeats “I AM” at the end of every line. It’s meant to be a type of meditation.

Meditation is the practice of quieting and focusing the mind. Anything that does that counts as meditation, and it usually consists of sitting still, upright, closing your eyes, and then counting your breath or some other object of focus.

The purpose of quieting the mind and teaching it to focus is so that it can serve you, instead of controlling you. Most people are controlled by their mind, by thoughts and beliefs not consciously chosen.

That’s the ego, the false-self which people believe themselves to be, which is also the source of their repetitive suffering.

“I AM” meditation is one of the most efficient ways to see through the illusion of your ego and realize who you truly are. That’s synonymous with discovering the source of your power and happiness.

“I AM” As A Name of God

When Moses had his talk with the burning bush in Exodus, he is instructed to waltz up to the pharaoh and boldly declare that he is taking his people out of Egypt, towards freedom.

Moses shyly wondered: “What if they ask me your name?”

“And God said unto Moses, I AM That I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
— Exodus 3:14

“I AM” is God’s reflection in language and in the operating system of our minds, which is our beliefs. It represents God because God is eternal, meaning outside time, meaning always in the present.

“I AM” is an affirmation of unity with truth and power. It’s God’s identity because God represents all truth and power — all that IS.

“I AM” Makes You Aware of Your Own Consciousness

The reason “I AM” represents all truth and power, is because it is the center of consciousness — pure consciousness, before any limiting identity.

Most people’s problems stem from being trapped in a weak identity. That’s the ego. They say things like “I AM only human, I AM a loser, I AM poor…” Of course…
