In response to the archetypes as metaphysical: what if the physical world is a subsection of the metaphysical, and the "higher dimension" that the archetypes inhabit is a pattern of the physical dimension? In the same way that our physical actions could be manifestations of divine magic. I think if you zoom out far enough, both perspectives make sense together, and I think the scientific language is a necessary element of the persona in this era to make things easier to digest for people.
